Micro-enterprise/Technical Assistance

According to the Community Economic Development Strategy for the region, Southwestern Pennsylvania’s underserved and disadvantaged entrepreneurs face enormous challenges in attempts to start new businesses and/or sustain existing businesses in today’s marketplace.

Through a pragmatic, grassroots and one-on-one approach, CEED’s Micro-enterprise and Technical Assistance responds to challenges faced by start up and existing underserved and disadvantaged entrepreneurs struggling to sustain, stabilize, or grow a business in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Assistance includes:

  • Business review and planning to meet modern day economic realities (Business plan development).
  • Training and counseling (skills development, business specific operation, marketing/distribution, customer service and sustainability strategies).
  • Market analysis and exploring new market opportunities.
  • Taking advantage of current business technology (e-commerce, websites, social media, apps, software, tools/devices, etc.)
  • On-going mentoring, case management and capacity building (book keeping/accounting, legal issues and compliance, management, certifications, taxes, financing and debt management).
